Very sturdy booster July 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My 3 year old was outgrowing her 5 point harness seat so I went to Target to buy the graco that my 4 year old has in pink but thankfully they didn't have it. I decided to order it on-line and began reading reviews for several different boosters. I ended up buying her this pink Recarro and also bought the blue on for my son. They arrived today and we love them. I feel terrible for ever putting my son in that flimsy graco!!!! This Recarro is strong, sturdy, has a lot of side support including around the head which will help with naps on our upcoming road trip. The children are so excited to sit in them and feel very comfortable. My 3 year old is probably an inch too short for her head to fall right in between the side supports. The head piece raises quite a bit so I feel confident that the children will be in these boosters for years. They fit perfectly in the back of our very small prius. We had to remove the rear head rests because they seemed to push the car seats forward too much. I would definitely recommend this carseat. Another bonus, they ship for free and arrived in 3 days.
Super Sturdy--Best Booster Around September 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I own 2 Britax Parkway boosters and have only used Britax products for my kids since they were born. However, when Britax discontinued the Parkway I was forced to look outside of the line for a new booster for my daughter. She is four, but is the size of a six year old. I was hesitant to leave Britax, but found the Monarch to be way too cumbersome and pricey to purchase. After researching and physically trying every booster out there, I purchased the Recaro Vivo. I love it and so does my daughter. It is amazing on several levels: 1. It has side impact protection. Why take a chance and use a booster without this feature? I personally refuse to gamble with my children's safety. 2. It is amazingly sturdy. Honestly, it's even sturdier than my beloved Parkways. 3. It is super comfy. Most of the other boosters out there (outside of the Britax) are so poorly padded that I can't imagine the kids being comfortable in them for longer than 15 minutes. 4. It's affordable. When you consider that the other brands are so poorly made and that children need to be in them now (at least here in CA) until they are 8 years old, you need a booster that can go the distance. I'd rather buy one that will last and spend a bit more, than buy one that's sure to be in the garbage bin in a few years. Keeping kids safe and reducing waste, that's a great thing! Recaro offers a great and safe product at a reasonable price.
I hope this turns out to be a good seat November 26, 2008 After reading the reviews, I decided to purchase this seat. It came yesterday and my 3 1/2 year old was so excited about her new big girl seat. I tried to assembly it per the instructions in the book but did not have the strength to push the base and back together. I gave up after struggling with it for over 10 minutes. My husband finally put it together. While I was struggling with it, two snaps broke that hold the cover to the headrest, which I was not too happy about but at least they are not something that is necessary. I think I should be able to sew different snaps on that are more reliable than these plastic kinds on the seat which is why I gave the seat 4 stars. Also there is a protrusion in the very low back of the seat (vertical bars?). Nothing sharp or dangerous it feels like a hard lump in the lower back that I discovered while putting the seat in the car. I will remove the cover from the back to examine the area this evening. My daughter rode in the seat this morning for about 5 minutes and did not complain about anything sticking her in the back. In fact, she seemed very happy with her new seat. The seat fits very well in the car and is not as wide as her Britax Marathon. She is very happy with the color and the way the back is raised and lowered is a very nice feature that will come in handy as she grows.
